THE AUDUBON RETREAT

This project offered a unique opportunity to reintegrate some of the houses original spanish colonial style into a spacious second story retreat to enjoy the outdoors year-round. Using materials such as the terracotta tile, integrated into a screen wall plays well with the style’s influence of the main house. Throughout the day the shadows of the screeen make the space more dynamic. The project also offered the owners a chance to deal with drainage for the rear yard. Connecting the new roof downspouts to a linear drain as well as a small chain wall beneath the porch allows for the lower story to be protected by New Orleans’ unpredicatble weather.
