An unrealized apartment renovation designed for a couple looking to retire in the beaitful coastal tow of Castellamare del Golfo in Sicily. Located on the main pedestrian walkway and gifted with a private terrace in the rear of the propety overlooking an outside amphitheater, provided the perfect opportunity to design a thoughful reinterpretation of a local flat. The schematic design process relied heavily on the local influence such as the nearby Norman-Arab archiecture and the ancient baths of Segesta to draw not only forms but unique vernacular features such as a passive cooling fountain.
